Project

Role of glucose activation of the two major protein phosphatases PP1 and PP22A in control of glycolytic flux and activation of Ras in yeast.

Hector Quezada will work on the possible connection between glucose activation of the two major protein phosphatases PP1 and PP2A and the control of Ras by glycolytic flux in yeast. Recent work in our group has revealed the mechanism by which active glycolysis causes stimulation of Ras-dependent cAMP synthesis in yeast. The latter is in some way required for glucose activation of the two major protein phosphatases PP1 and PP2A but the mechanism involved is unclear. Hector Quezada will contribute to the completion of the work on the mechanism involved in activation of Ras by specific glycolytic metabolites and the mechanisms involved in glucose activation of the protein phosphatases PP1 and PP2A.
