Revealing Secrets: Rhetoric and Medicine in the Italian Renaissance Literature (ca. 1550-1600)
This project aims at studying the rhetorical strategies and the use of vernacular in the 16th century books of secrets, a popular genre of medical Italian literature that spread throughout Europe. The research focuses on the collection of Secreti kept in the Ghent University Library and represents the first step of a broader project pursued by the Promoter.
