A research for the expressive potential of presentation in the design process of contemporary jewellery. (R-6305)

Presentation as creation' is a research for the expressive potential of presentation in the design process of contemporary jewellery. Presentation can take place during various stages of the artistic process. In a conventional manner creation precedes presentation but presentation can also occur during and even before creation. During the research for this proposal I discovered six aspects of presentation: presentation as subject, presentation as object, presentation as subject and as object, the space as the primary component of the presentation and presentation through the body. These aspects were reduced to three case studies: the subject, the space and the body. Each of these case studies will be treated in the focus groups, which I will organize during the first year of my research. My goals for this research are to develop artistic work whereby presentation and creation coincide in autonomous units, to develop a design model and to give a new meaning to presentation. Positioned within two disciplines, creating and curating, this research will be interesting and relevant for these and related fields. Within the MANUFrACTURE group my research is an interesting addition for the existing knowledge.
