Project

Religious concepts as structured imagination. A cognition, religion and theology project.

This research was funded by the Cognition, religion and theology project organized by the University of Oxford and supported by the john Templeton Foundation. The aim of that project is to foster empirical investigation and philosophical refleciton on the cognitive science of religion and theology. My research will examine the role of structured creativity in the emergence of religious concepts, using an open questionnaire study. Next to this, I will also study the implications of the cognitive sciences for the philosophy of religion.
