QUALIDI-Quantum Dot Enhanced Light Guides for Lighting and Display (QUALIDI)

Several applications rely on light sources with a specific, predetermined emission spectrum. Such sources can be made by assembling monochromatic LEDs. However, the widely differing efficiency of monochromatic LEDs makes such a solution complex, expensive and inefficient. Using a blue LED as the sole primary light source in combination with Quantum Dot (QD) technology can address these issues, however this approach faces regulations on the materials used.
