"FOR THE PUBLIC, BY THE PUBLIC": Coping with dilemmas in the coproduction of public services.

In coproduction, regular service producers collaborate with citizens to provide public services. Coproduction creates trade-offs between core public values such as accountability, transparency, democracy, equal treatment, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of services. However, little is know about the day-to-day struggles of coproducers as they face contrasting demands. In two policy sectors, (health) care and mobility, we analyse the combined impact of individual role perceptions and motivations, and features of the coproduction initiatives on dilemmas coproducers perceive and how they cope with these. Using mixed-methods and dilemma scenarios, the project stands out against traditional coproduction research designs.
