Public participation in environmental decision-making: Aarhus watched with Argus eyes?

This research will assess the impact of public participation on governmental decision-making in environmental matters. Analysis of the legal framework in Belgium and Flanders, as influenced by the Aarhus Convention and European Directives, combined with empirical research into the application of these provisions in practice, will help determine whether environmental democracy is
being achieved and present solutions to possible shortcomings.
