Psalter Exegesis in the 'Macedonian Renaissance': the Catena of Paris. gr. 139.

This research project aims to publish for the first time a relevant section of the Psalter catena that can be found in the famous illustrated codex Paris. gr. 139 (the so-called Paris Psalter). On the basis of this critical edition the question will be addressed if the exegesis of this manuscript, which is believed to have been created for the emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos (945959), serves the cultural politics of the Macedonian dynasty (9th11th century), as non-exegetical (compilation) literature from that period and the miniatures of the Paris codex are known to have done.
