Protein dynamics underlying disease and empowering drug development

The aim of my doctoral thesis is to examine protein flexibility using single-molecule FRET experiments and to incorporate that knowledge for the design of potent and efficient drugs. To do so, I will focus on synthesizing drugs to modulate two completely different biological systems. On one side I intend to synthesize inhibitors for the FbpA proteins, essential for virulence of pathogenic bacteria but also plan to develop small molecule modulators of the Ras signaling proteins.
