Project

The promotion of a physically active lifestyle through quality Physical Education.

The aim of this project is to develop an instructional and curricular strategy to promote a physically active lifestyle through quality physical education in secondary schools. Increasing the physical activity levels of school-aged youth is a significant factor in the reduction of obesity and health problems. The research is framed within the behavior analytic tradition and extends a curricular pedagogical approach known as Sport Education. In Sport Education, students work together in small heterogeneous teams to master lesson content and learn social skills. Through the use of group contingencies, parent support, and quality PE content matched with the developmental level of students we want to identify crucial paramters that facilitate the development of lifelong movers. The methodology will consist of randomized controlled trials with classes.
