Project

Practical implementation, system integration and coordinated control of power electronic converters with balancing functionality to ensure the reliability, safety and efficiency of direct current networks.

New types of unidirectional and bidirectional wide-bandgap semiconductors such as GaN allow toswitch with significantly lower losses and higher switching speeds, yielding a volume reduction and
efficiency and enhancement. The goal of this PhD is to investigate the adaptation of existing circuit
topologies and introduce novel circuit types based on these components. The envisaged applications are
low-voltage high-performance drives, photovoltaics and energy storage.
