PhD positions in Smart Responsive Separation with Hybrid Processes

The PhD work involves the utilization of novel membrane designed for efficient separation and resource recovery to achieve low-emission, energy efficient and environmentally benign process. Surface engineering strategies will be applied in the production of smart responsive membrane with self-cleaning properties and reversible solute-surface interaction, specifically tailored for solute separation and purification. Membrane separation will be used for water treatment and resource recovery aimed at niche liquid from both natural and industrial sources. The potential for process hybridization involving membrane extraction, crystallization, absorption or chromatography will be studied to determine optimal process configuration. Multi-scale modeling approaches will be applied to enhance fundamental understanding, optimization and system-level analysis of membrane purification system which involve the evaluation of energy consumption and economic cost.
