Project

Optimal sound transmission of acoustic hearing implants to the inner ear.

In recent years, new hearing implants driving the inner ear directly thrchanical vibrations have been developed. Currently, objective feedback ohe auditory system is stimulated by the device during its surgical impla is lacking. This innovative project aims to address the following resuestions: 1) The exact sound transmission pathway of acoustic hearing imdirectly coupled to the humans inner ear needs to be investigated usingric head study. After the implementation of intracochlear pressure senso couplings impact on cochlear micromechanics will be investigated; 2) Ehysiological tests based on brain activity synchronized with auditory stremain to be developed for use during the surgery. New objective measureds will be developed in implanted subjects, i.e. under general anesthesia.
