From online to social news: the remediation and reframing of news on Facebook en Twitter.

This project investigates the selection, remediation and reframing of news presented on social media news accounts. It can be argued that the news presented on the Facebook and Twitter page of a mainstream news medium often differs from the news presented on the online news site of that same news medium. In a time where social media have become an important news source for youngsters and adults, it is relevant to investigate what kind of news is presented on these social media, and how this social news differs from the online news. In this project we therefore investigate how Flemish and Dutch mainstream news media take into account the media logic of Facebook and Twitter when transferring, selecting, remediating and reframing the online news to social news.
