Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer (R-7088)

NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy is an indispensable tool for chemists to unravel the structure and purity of newly developed innovative materials. Since structure determination is crucial in all steps of a material development chain, flexible acces to such equipment is an absolute must. In addition, NMR spectroscopy allows to quantitatively describe the miscibility and chain dynamics of materials on the nanometer level via so-called spin relaxation measurements. In the Institute for Materials Research of Hasselt University, it mainly concerns materials intended for the clean production and storage of energy. This all explains why a modern NMR spectrometer, equipped, equipped for structure determination in the liquid as well as in the solid state, is asked for in this project. State of the art NMR infrastructure is essential to i) strengthen the high level of excellence of the research, ii) be succesfull in (inter)national project acquisitions and iii) create economical valorization via intensive collaboration with (local) industries.
