Non-Dutch speaking parents in interaction with the school of their children.

The concept 'Parents in (inter)action' represents the organization of Dutch language lessons for immigrant parents in the school of their children (primary school), in order to make them acquire the necessary. Dutch language proficiency for them to understand the information exchanged between school and parents, to be able to communicate with other parents in Dutch, to participate in school life, to support the 'school career' of their children,... This specific project aims at the development of course and assessment materials. The materials are based on the specific needs of the parents (working towards level 1.2) and enable teachers to tried out and revised on the basis of feedback. On a secondary level, the materials are also meant to sensitize the schools: it makes teachers reflect on how they communicate with non-Dutch speaking, underprivileged parents en hands models and prototypes to improve things.
