Muscle-tendon biomechanics during running on surfaces of different mechanical properties

During the PDM mandate, I will work on the first work package of my FWO-project with the aim to determine the influence of different surface mechanical properties on muscle-tendon interactions of the triceps surae during running using in-vivo measurements techniques and musculoskeletal modelling and by creating different surface configurations. Besides, I will collaborate on a PhD student project looking at the effects of leg stiffness alterations on muscle-tendon dynamics during running using different shoe and insole designs. Future results of these studies will be included as pilot data to strengthen a following Marie-Curie and FWO fellowships applications. In addition, I will also continue publishing and submitting peer-reviewed papers, further strengthening my track record and be involved in multiple research projects currently conducted in the lab.
