Multi-Level and Multi-Dimensional Internet of Drones' Collaboration Approach for Smart City Applications. (R-11945)

Thanks to their capabilities to track objects and events of interest as well as their capabilities to provide unique real-time views of road sections, drones are being increasingly used in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications. To deal with the highly complex ITS tasks, several approaches are allowing these drones to collaborate and ultimately achieve goals beyond their individual capabilities. Given the dynamism of transportation systems and the opportunistic nature of transportation services, drones should be empowered by intelligent mechanisms allowing them to make informed decisions about their collaborative actions and then plan and operate accordingly. Within the framework of collaboration, drones implicitly and/or explicitly try to find appropriate compromises between their own objectives and the objectives of peers. Also, drones need some autonomous mechanisms to assess the benefits and cots of their actions while complying with predefined behavior policies. In this research project we aim to propose a new approach enabling drones to take informed and intelligent decisions, while collaborating for the achievement of goals exceeding their individual capabilities.
