Mechanism of action and efficacy of neurostimulation as a treatment for refractory epilepsy

This project concerns research towards the optimalization of two treatments for epilepsy both involving electrical stimulation of nerve tissue: vagal nerve stimulation and deep brain stimulation. Optimalization of neurostimulation aims at 1. further investigating the mechanism of action of the treatments 2. optimization of the current stimulation parameters 3. identification of epilepsy models and patient populations which react optimal to the treatment.
