Lugones and Vasconcelos: a Neo-Hellenistic view on the New World? The influence of the classical Greek tradition on Spanish-American identity creation

The range of thought of the authors Leopoldo Lugones en José Vasconcelos is characterized by an unremitting search for a continental (Spanish-American) and national (Argentinian/Mexican) identity. This comparative research intends to examine whether the authors' shared fascination for the classic Greek culture can explain the similarities in their ideas related to the formation of nationalities from a political-ideological, philosophical and pedagogical perspective.
