Project

Investigation of Novel Graphene-like Structures.

The main objective of my project is to reveal electronic and magnetic properties of nanosized flat materials. The subject materials of the project are graphene and graphene-like structures. Graphene is made of carbon atoms that are one of the most abundant elements in the earth crust and it was shown earlier that it has many unique properties. Moreover graphene based materials are cheap and easier to integrate to existing technological applications. The results obtained in the scope of this project will be beneficial for future device applications. The developments of effective electronic device components, that are suitable for low-resistance and high mobility transport, are priorities in nanoelectronics research. I aim to extend the twodimensionalplayground created by graphene into a broader set of materials and discover new structures having new functionalities. Both in terms of theoretical and technological gain, the proposed work is very timely and relevant to today's science.
