Integrating World City Network analysis and the Global Value Chain approach: the role of advanced producer services in the global athletic footwear industry

This research aims to integrate two globalization paradigms, i.e. the Global Value Chain approach investigating the spatial and organizational structure of transnational production networks, and the world city literature studying global city networks resulting from the inter-firm relations of producer services. The latter play a pivotal role in this integration, and will therefore lead to new insights in contemporary globalization processes.
