Project

Integrated Diagnostic and Life Science Research Tools (IDiaLiST)

IDiaLiST is a consortium comprising a 3 research groups at KU Leuven focused on development and validation of novel in vitro diagnostic platforms and life science research tools. We cover the entire value chain, from technology and assay implementation to clinical validation. In addition to beyond state-of-the-art research and commercialization of new diagnostics, medical devices and research tools, we collaborate with industry actors on applied projects.

Key enabling technologies of the  MeBioS-Biosensors group are matched to need-driven applications provided by partners working in translational research. The core members of the IDiaLiST consortium are:

  • MeBioS Biosensors – Prof. Jeroen Lammertyn. Biosensors, Lab-on-chip technologies, Digital bioassays, Fiber optic SPR, Self-powered microfluidics.
  • Therapeutic and Diagnostic Antibodies – Prof. Paul Declerck. Antibody technology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Bio-assay design and implementation.
  • Laboratory for Thrombosis Research – Prof. Karen Vanhoorelbeke. Immuno assay, von Willebrand disease, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).

We leverage our world class expertise and research environment to offer industry actors the possibility to conduct contract research across our consortium. Amongst other applied research directions, we offer services in:

  • Assay development and validation
  • Technology integration
  • Evaluation, beta-testing of diagnostic and life science research platforms
  • Point-Of-Care integration as a major thrust
