The impact of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) on gait and falls: a systematic review and meta-analysis. (R-12904)

Background: Benign Paroxysmal Position Vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of balance disorders and dizziness among older adults. The influence on gait and falls is unclear. BPPV is well treatable with a Particle Repositioning Maneuver (PRM). Methods: Pubmed, Web of Science and Scopus were systematically searched for articles comparing gait and/or falling between 1) people with BPPV (pwBPPV) and controls and 2) pre- and posttreatment. When possible, standardized mean differences (SMD) or Odds-ratio (OR) were calculated. Results: 14 from the 18 included studies were useful for a meta-analysis. The results will be published at a later date.
