Project

Identification and characterization of new candidate biomarkers in axial spondyloarthritis. (R-6024)

In this project, new candidate autoantibodies in the plasma of axSpA patients will be identified and validated on the basis of three subprojects. In the first subproject, new autoantibody markers in axSpA patients will be identified via the construction of a human cDNA expression library and SAS (Milestone 1). Peptide ELISAs will be developed and optimized for the detection of new markers in the second subproject. Hereafter, the sensitivity and specificity will be tested in axSpA patients and controls (Milestone 2). Finally, the biological relevance of the candidate markers will be studied through the identification of the corresponding "in vivo" antigens, followed by an investigation of the expression pattern in different tissues of both patients and controls (Milestone 3).
