Hemp4textiles

The lack of knowledge about the influence of the many aspects of hemp cultivation, retting and processing on fiber yield and fiber quality retaines the introduction of hemp cultivation for textile production in Flanders. With this project we want to provide guidelines to Flemish arable farmers for specific hemp cultivation with the aim to produce a qualitative textile fiber. Also the Flemish textile sector is requesting party to work with a qualitative localy sourced, traceable and sustainable hemp fiber. This because the current supply from China (globaly the bigest producer) is not transparent and qualitative enough.
