Project

Funtionalised polycaprolactone and polyvinyl alcohol for skeletal tissue engineering.

This project is part of the ongoing research regarding production and evaluation of 3D matrices for osteogenic cells and focuses on the creation of a dynamic 3D environment using composite scaffolds (polymer + bioceramic) and hydrogels. In order to incorporate bioceramics, namely calcium phosphate, as nano- and/or micro-particles in polymers, namely polycaprolactone and subsequently transform this composite into scaffolds know-how on polymer composites and more specifically on the production and use of nano-composite materials is needed. Concerning hydrogels, research will be focussed on the synthetic hydrogel polyvinyl alcohol, including the incorporation of different functionalities.
