EXPLICO: the EXPerience of LIght and COlor

The BOFZAP research program focuses on key topics related to the experience of light and color in realistic scenes. This is important from a fundamental scientific point of view and also because of the widespread use of color in technology, industry and everyday life. The program has four interrelated research lines (RL): RL1 will study color matching and its variability amongst observers. RL2 will tackle the impact of context on color appearance. RL3 will deal with the effect of the illumination spectrum on the psychological experience of lighting in realistic scenes. Finally, RL4 will investigate how color in virtual reality relates to color in real scenes, with the aim of investigating the potential of VR as an innovative research and design tool. The program adopts an innovative, integrated approach by tackling important current challenges from fundamental color vision to general lighting experience.
