Embellishing Roman Architecture – The Use and Trade of Decorative Stones

Monumental architecture and especially lithic décor was a powerful material means for the Roman elite to showcase their social and economic status.
This project approaches Roman lithic décor from a quantitative and regional perspective for obtaining a better understanding of the social and economic mechanisms of the use and distribution of the material.
