Project

Digitization, preservation and classification of the KU Leuven collection of Latin and Greek manuscript reproductions.

This project aims to digitize and open up the collections of manuscript reproductions of the research units of Greek Studies and Latin Literature, a corpus of, respectively, 2221 and 523 complete or partial reproductions of medieval manuscripts on microfilm, microfiche, or paper. This corpus will be digitized through the acquisition of a microfilm scanner and through the services of the UBD Digitization of the Leuven University Library. The images will be made available to researchers on-campus via LIBIS and described in detail in LIMO. The digitization will modernize these valuable collections for use with edition software and guarantee their preservation, while their classification will make the material more widely accessible, stimulate new research and valorize hitherto undescribed parts of the collections. The project will be realized together with Artes.
