Paving the road to integrated public services. Inter-organizational coordination to advance integrated digital public service delivery

The Flemish government wants their digital interactions with its partners (civilians, businesses, non-profit organizations, associations and other governments) to run optimally. To realize this vision, the manner in which the ongoing digitization of the government relates to the administrative organization of said government has to be clear. Therefore, inter alia, the organizational alignment between horizontal and vertical service integrators is necessary. The autonomy and distinctness of the agencies of the Flemish government and the local entities is also a point of attention.

Through the Steunpunt Bestuurlijke Vernieuwing (2016 - 2020), the project: A digital Flemish government, at the KU Leuven Public Governance Institute, has the intention to shape the Flemish government as a digital government, aiming to strengthen its interaction with its customers. To achieve this goal, first, a mapping of the current situation will take place, upon which an integral model of the digital Flemish government will be constructed. Moreover, different scenario’s to implement the model will be elaborated, in cooperation with the different stakeholders.
