Development of mathematical pilot models for fast-time ship manoeuvring simulation and traffic planning for harbour approach channels

Ship manoeuvring simulation is widely applied when designing new navigation areas and for assessing channel safety. The research project uses intelligent control algorithms to develop a novel mathematical pilot model for fast-time manoeuvring simulations in complex situations and for shipping traffic planning. The results will be applied to selected cases in Flemish harbours and channels and in Chinese navigation areas.
