The development of HPLC-ICP-MS methods for metabolite profiling of medical drugs

The capabilities of liquid chromatography, coupled to ICP-mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS) for quantitative metabolite profiling of drugs containing an ICP-MS detectable element have already been demonstrated at UGent. In this project, derivatization protocols will be developed for drugs that do not contain such an element, in order to extend the application range of HPLC-ICP-MS for quantitative metabolite profiling of drug molecules, as alternative to HPLC with radiodetection.
