The development and Impact of the Sinicization Concept in the Chinese Historiography of the Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century

The present research focusses on the development of the sinification concept in the early twentieth century in China, and the way it influenced the Western world. The central topic is therefore the coming into being and the development of the idea of a 'Chinaese nation', as well in China, as in the image of China as it was spread in the West.
