Decreasing total sedentary time and prolonged/continued sedentary time in adults with a sedentary occupation: a randomized controlled trial.

Prospective observational studies show that sedentary behaviour (e.g. occupational sitting) is a novel, independent risk factor for obesity, type 2 diabetes, CVD, specific cancers and all-cause mortality, independently of physical activity. We develop a randomised controlled trial to decrease sedentary time in adults with a predominantly sedentary occupation and evaluate it`s effectiveness in terms of behaviour change and cardio-metabolic health.
