Creating Contexts of Invention: design and artistic entrepreneurship

This project investigates the potentials of design and artistic entrepreneurship, that focusses on the creation of contexts of invention able to manifest – or materialize – the worlds to come. The aim is to explore the mechanisms for inventing new forms of creative knowledge and, in doing so, empowering communities of common interest. Instead of lingering in pure marketing practices and social services the (critical) entrepreneurship we envision wants to invest in social imagination, based on a feminist perspective. Contexts of invention involve making (engaging in the material and the real) and systems-transforming (political) capacities, which we frame within the notion of ‘the poetics and politics of values’. Investigating this requires the epistemological recalibration of artistic and design practice towards a value-laden instead of value-neutral research methids. Hence, we will use non-observational research.
