Citizen science project CurieuzeNeuzen: impact on the participants, policy and the public at large

CurieuzeNeuzen is a large scale citizen science project on air quality set-up by the Universiteit Antwerpen, De Standaard, VMM, HIVA-KU Leuven, and VITO. Under the guidance of professional scientists, citizens collect data on air quality. The aim is to map the air quality in the whole of Flanders in a detailed way, both in the city as in rural areas. The approach of the project is based on the CurieuzeNeuzen Antwerpen project of 2016 which involved 2000 citizens measuring NO2- concentrations at their homes. HIVA is again responsible for the mapping of the effect of this measurement campaign on the participants, policy and the public at large.
