Project

Centre of expertise for falls prevention in Flanders.

On 5 December 2008, the Flemish Government ratified the covenant between the Flemish Government and the Centre of Expertise for Falls Prevention in Flanders (EFF). The EFF started on 1 November 2008 and is a cooperation between the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the University of Gent, Domus Medica, the Scientific Association of Flemish Physiotherapists, the Scientific Association for Nursing and Midwifery, the Flemish Association for Occupational Therapy, and the Belgian Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics. The EFF has three main goals: providing information and advice, developing methods and tools, and supporting the implementation of these methods and tools with regard to falls prevention for both community-dwelling elderly and older adults living in a residential setting. To achieve these goals, the EFF works together with external partners (i.e. VIGeZ, Logos, SITs, Rode Kruis, CRAs, VVI, VVSG, FOS, and Ferubel).
