Blood cell counts in human and animal research

Clinicians often rely on complete blood counts (CBC) to monitor overall health, to screen for some blood and other diseases, to confirm a diagnosis of some medical condition and to monitor changes in the body caused by therapies. A CBC is the most commonly performed blood test in medicine but also for research including the use of different animal models, CBCs are frequently determined to address similar aspects. The CBC immediately determines many parameters at a reasonable cost to directly gain important information even during the time course of an experiment. Therefore, a blood cell counter for human and animal CBCs is essential for different research groups within and outside the department studying diverse aspects of blood. In our application, we illustrate that many projects from a large user group would favor from the continuation of such device in a research setting though with improved updates and this for human and animal applications.
