An adjoint method for combined robust optimization, error estimation and uncertainty quantification CFD. (FWOAL674)

The overarching goal of the project is the development of an innovative optimization cycle for shape design of turbomachinery components, such as the blades of a wind turbine or turbocharger. Formulated as an optimal control problem governed by the flow equations, the optimization will target simultaneously the design criterion (e.g. the drag force) and the error in the design criterion (the error in the drag) in one single nonlinear loop.

Wijziging promotor wegens pensioen Prof. Dr. Lacor: Vanaf 01/10/2016 zal Prof. Dr. Francesco Contino het promotorschap opnemen.
