Mutant microorganisms to synthesize colanic acid and/or fucosylated oligosaccharides
By knocking out two regulatory genes in E. coli (arcA and iclR), the colanic acid operon is upregulated. This leads in the biosynthesis of GDP-fucose, a precursor of fucosyllactose.
