Research Group Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue
Research Unit
The Work and Organisation research group carries out policy-oriented research on how work is organised and with what effects on opportunities for high quality and sustainable jobs, in particular for vulnerable groups. Key research questions are among others: how are organisations changing? What are key developments in workplaces, jobs, wages and working condtions, health and safety at work and worker participation? What human resources management prevails in these organisations? How can job quality be improved with the help of participation and social dialogue, in particular for vulnerable groups? These research themes are investigated in an interdisciplinary team and with a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods. This research boasts a long tradition within HIVA, which translates into a prominent and established participation by the group in national and European research programmes and in a strong cooperation with trade unions and companies.
