Organisation profile:The Research Group for Urban Development 's mission is to contribute to knowledge about urban development , aimed at a sustainable transformation of the city . Knowledge which concerns both the concrete spatial and process aspects of urban development . The dual perspective , which both focus is given to the design of innovative solutions such as the ability to implement projects in a real strategic policy context is reflected in the research agenda of the center . The center focuses on both fundamental and applied research . Services will also have a leading role in the mission of the center . Fundamental research analyzes the mutual relationships between physical (urban) development and social developments . Policy-oriented or applied research is focused on designing innovative solutions , and evaluating existing urban development practices . Services for small and large cities for urban development is a major focus . Moreover, this practice may in turn be used as a flywheel for data acquisition, more policy-oriented or fundamental research . The research center has expressed the ambition to act in a number of European and non - European cities in terms of capacity building for urban development .
