Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy

Research Group

Lifecycle:1 Oct 2003 →  30 Sep 2022
Organisation profile:At the laboratory of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy research is focused on following topics: * Optimisation of the bioavailability of ocular dosage forms Several new dosage forms such as biodegradable colloidal carrier systems, mucoadhesive nanoparticles and bioadhesive minitablets are developed in order to improve the therapeutic effects of antibiotics. The influence of the composition, preparation method and sterilisation on the release rate of the drug is investigated in vitro and in vivo. * Development and physical characterisation of colloidal carriers By means of factorial design the preparation of nanoparticles using high pressure homogenisation is optimised. The influence of the formulation parameters on the physical properties (particle size, charge, drug release) of biodegradable carrier systems (i.e. polylactide, gelatin) is studied. * Rheological characterisation of muco/bioadhesive polymers * Development and physical characterisation of colloidal dosage forms intended for use in wound healing. The research concerns a collaboration with the company Flen Pharma * Formulation and stability studies under the authority of the Ministry of Health
