Research Group
Main organisation:Vaccine & infectious disease institute
Lifecycle:1 Jan 2019 → Today
Organisation profile:At the Laboratory of Experimental Hematology (LEH) headed by prof Zwi Berneman, we investigate novel concepts in personalized (stem) cell- and gene-based (immuno)therapies for personalized medicine. We perform fundamental, preclinical, translational and clinical research favoring a bench-to-bedside practice. For its translational and clinical research, LEH collaborates very closely with the Center for Cell Therapy & Regenerative Medicine (CCRG) – Antwerp University Hospital (leader: prof. Zwi Berneman).
LEH is composed of 3 major subgroups:
1. Experimental Cell Transplantation Group (ECTG) (group leader: prof. Peter Ponsaerts)
2. Tumor Immunology Group (TIGr) (group leaders: prof. Viggo Van Tendeloo)
3. Immune Regulation & Tolerance-Inducing Strategies Research Group (IRIS) (group leader: prof. Nathalie Cools)
