Faculty

Main organisation:Hasselt University
Lifecycle:1 Oct 1973 →  Today
Organisation profile:The Faculty of Science organizes education, research and services within the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Informatics, Statistics and Mathematics. This is done within the academic context and values of Hasselt University. The faculty strives to train students and young researchers in this context to scientists of the future with clear social responsibility. The faculty aims to create an environment in which students, researchers and staff can develop to a level of excellence through optimal, interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the faculty and university. Attention is paid to knowledge versus skills both in education and research; Inspiration versus creativity; Regional anchoring versus international context; Fundamental versus applied research (valorization). In addition to theoretical research groups, a number of spearhead domains have been combined in research institutes. This must lead to a high-quality level, which focuses on innovation and sustainability.
