Organisation profile:

The Faculty of Law at Hasselt University is a young and expanding faculty.

Our partners in education are Maastricht University and KU Leuven, both renowned for their academic traditions. Therefore, the education programme is quite unique: it focuses on international and European law, and provides a platform for the comparison of European and various national legal systems. Particularly in the master level programme, the focus is mainly on alternative dispute resolution, which includes any method of resolving disputes other than by litigation. Problem-based learning, throughout all years of study, clearly illustrates the innovative character of our faculty.

The research mission of the Faculty of Law is to understand and improve the role of law in society, in a context of economic globalization and rapidly changing technological and social developments. The Faculty chooses to focus high-quality research on a number of priority areas and believes in the added value of multidisciplinarity. In this way, the Faculty contributes to building a better society at the (eu)regional, national and European level.
