Technology Cluster

Lifecycle:1 Jan 2013 →  31 Jul 2020
Organisation profile:

The Technology Cluster of the department of Electrical Engineering is split up in 3 research units:

  • DraMCo: Continuously driven by questions from and contacts with industrial partners, we cover a broad range of research topics in wireless, mobile and embedded communications. The goal is to make new technologies accessible for industrial partners. Technical support, advice, training, networking, etc are part of the core business of our research group.
  • Light & Lighting Lab: The Light&Lighting Laboratory is a research group embedded in the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) of KU Leuven and located on the Ghent Technology Campus. The main research topics are Indoor lighting, Optical design, Appearance & Perception and Metrology. Within each topic, PhD research activities, generating new knowledge, are combined with numerous development projects with lighting companies. The vast measurement infrastructure of the Light&Lighting Laboratory offers a lot of possibilities for product characterization.
  • E&A: The E&A research is situated in the broad domain of electrical engineering and industrial automation. National and international projects has lead to the current expertise in stand-alone hybrid power systems, industrial datacom and reliability, PV metrology, energy measurements and light electric mobility.
