Geert Claassens’ research focusses on Middle Dutch chivalric epics and romances, the oeuvre of Petrus Naghel (the so called ‘Bible Translator of 1360’), the problem of fictionality in medieval literature and the possibilities of a modern narratological approach of medieval texts. Currently he is also engaged in several edition projects (amongst others Roman van Walewein, Beatrijs, Der naturen bloeme, Seghelijn van Jherusalem).

Dirk De Geest’s research focuses on modern Dutch and Flemish literature. He is especially interested in poetry but also investigates a.o. middlebrow literature. In the field of literary theory, he is a specialist in systems theory and functionalist approaches to literature, combining textual analysis with the analysis of literary practices.

Marc Van Vaeck

Bart Vervaeck’s research focuses on the postwar innovation of the Dutch and Flemish novel. He is especially interested in the neo-avant-garde and postmodernism. In the field of literary theory, he is a specialist in postclassical narratology.
