Construction Technology, De Nayer (Sint-Katelijne-Waver) Campus

Technology Cluster

Lifecycle:1 Jan 2013 →  31 Jul 2020
Organisation profile:

The research group Materials and Structures at Campus De Nayer performs research related to the optimization of material usage, structural components and structures in view of sustainable construction. Research is performed in the field of design and analysis of metallic, concrete and composite components and structures. Numerical techniques are employed together with experimental techniques to develop new theoretical methods and innovative construction technologies. The outputs are implemented into the structural codes of practice and their implications on the construction techniques, construction site impacts, and processes are studied. The research results are also translated into practical tools tailored to companies operating in the construction sector. Life cycle assessment (focusing on embodied impacts) is also utilized in the frame of multi-criteria comparative analyses.

As part of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, the staff offers an academic applied engineering program to the students and prepares them to become competent professionals integrating theory and practice in the field of civil engineering.
